CLEVELAND—Today, Arts Cleveland announced that President and CEO Megan Van Voorhis would depart the nonprofit service organization in September to take on a new role as Cultural and Creative Economy Manager for the City of Sacramento, CA. Van Voorhis has served Cleveland’s arts community for nearly twenty years and began her role as president in January 2018, when the organization was known as the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture.

During her short tenure as president and CEO, Van Voorhis led the organization through a complete rebrand, released multiple publications including “Inside the Margins” and “Elevating the Influence of Arts and Culture,” supported Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s arts education planning process, initiated Northeast Ohio’s first ever Arts and Culture Caucus, and opened new funding paths by piloting fiscal sponsorship for individual artists. Most recently, she has played a central role in serving and advocating for Cleveland’s creative workers as they navigate through this global pandemic.

“Megan has positioned this organization well and readied it to launch into a new era of service to the arts and culture community,” said Tony Panzica, chair of Arts Cleveland’s Board of Trustees. “Her leadership and dedication have been steadfast and her passion for the mission is unparalleled.”

Van Voorhis devoted significant energies to strengthening the organization’s partnerships at the local, state and national levels, while embracing a wider set of creative economy players in its work, including the region’s independent venues.

“It has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve Greater Cleveland’s creative community these many years,” said Van Voorhis. “And, I have no doubt that regardless of the present circumstances, only great things lie ahead for our region’s creative economy.”

Panzica shared that the board is working on a transition plan and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of service and advocacy.
