Development Manager

Arts Cleveland is seeking a mid-level development professional generalist to manage its fundraising program. The ideal candidate will have passion for the arts and fundraising experience in the non-profit community. The development manager will add expertise to the Arts Cleveland team, helping implement an expanded philanthropic program to support Arts Cleveland and its mission of advancing the arts and culture community in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. 

Overview: 

Under the supervision of the president and CEO, the development manager will manage the implementation of the development program for Arts Cleveland. The new staff member will serve the organization while being responsible for helping raise contributed revenues through grants, membership, events, sponsorships and annual giving. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Works with staff members to plan, prepare and implement fundraising initiatives 
  • Works with president and CEO to build relationships with key funders and donors 
  • Works with board members to identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors 
  • Writes, researches and tracks grant submissions and reports 
  • Plans and manages fundraising events 
  • Plans and implements annual giving opportunities 
  • Staffs the advancement committee of the board 

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Knowledge of the Greater Cleveland philanthropic community 
  • Proficient with technology, donor data systems and Microsoft Office suite 
  • Experience with special event management 
  • Experience with private, community and government grant seeking and submissions 
  • Knowledge of or experience with non-profit membership programs 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Understanding of basic financial reporting and budget planning 
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects/events simultaneously 
  • Ability to adapt, work independently and serve as a team member 
  • Interest and ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field 
  • Minimum 3-5 years professional non-profit fundraising experience 
  • Grant writing experience 
  • Event support experience
